What a Touring Children's Show Teaches Marketers
Blippi, the children's entertainment character known from online videos, expanded into live stage shows that toured North American cities, and the 2024 run has now passed. For a marketing studio, the interesting part is not the dates. It is how a brand built on short videos turned itself into a ticketed live experience that families travel to see.
Recognition before explanation
The character works on sight. The bright orange and blue outfit, the glasses and the energetic delivery tell a young viewer what to expect in a fraction of a second. This is the same principle behind a good shop window: the passer-by should understand the offer before reading a single word. If your brand needs a paragraph of explanation before anyone recognises it, the visual identity is doing too little.
Two audiences, one message
Children's entertainment always sells to two groups at once. The child wants the experience and the parent makes the purchase. Successful family brands speak to both. Children get colour, music and familiar characters. Parents get reassurance: educational value, a manageable show length and a safe venue. Many businesses in Bogotá face a similar split, such as products used by employees but approved by managers, or services enjoyed by guests but booked by hosts. Mapping who desires and who decides is one of the first exercises we cover in our workshops.
From screen to stage
Moving from digital content to physical events is a big jump. Several things make the transition work:
- Consistency: the live version has to feel exactly like the version audiences already know.
- Local relevance: each stop on a tour is promoted to its own city, often through local media and venue channels.
- Clear calls to action: families need simple information about where, when and how to attend. They should be pointed to official sources for tickets.
- Memorable moments: sing-alongs and interaction give attendees something to share afterwards, which extends the campaign for free.
A brand does not need a stage tour to use these ideas. A pop-up stand, a launch event or a store activation follows the same logic: a recognisable identity, a message for every person in the buying decision, and an experience worth talking about. Browse our portfolio for examples of campaigns built on that clarity, or read more in our insights.
